People and LanguageSingapore’s resident population of about 4 million is made up of the four major races – Chinese (77%), Malays (14%), Indians (8%) and Eurasians (1%). The national language is Malay and the other official languages are Mandarin, Tamil and English. Most Singaporeans are bilingual, speaking both English and their mother tongue.
